I have just received the AF-S Nikkor 18-35 f/3.5-4.5G ED lens. It has been a labourous process over the last few months in deciding which lens I was going to get.
My initial thought was to get this very lens. At the time of thinking about it, it had not been released and obviously had not been tested and reviewed, so I could not know how it would perform. Then I thought about perhaps extending my mid-focus range by getting the AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm f/4G ED VR to replace the AF-S Nikkor 24-85mm F3.5-4.5G ED VR which I bought with my D600. The arguments against this were:
- I was paying another £200 for half a stop at the telephoto end and 20mm of focal length
- the 24-85 has been getting excellent reviews which were not too dissimilar to the 24-120
So I decided to look again at the wide-angle zoom that I had originally looked at which had now had time to be reviewed properly. I was very pleasantly surprised. It had some excellent reviews.
