I’ve just returned from Italy where I used my Olympus E-30 and the fabulous Zuiko 14-54mm f2.8-3.5 II lens. The quality from this combination is superb – but I really missed my D800.

I’ve been a dyed-in-the-wall Olympus user for years ( I even used the OM cameras 30 years ago) but I think I’ve finally moved on.
I missed the ergomonics of the Nikon, I missed the fantastic DR of the nikon, and funnily enough, I missed its weight.

I must admit however, although for the first couple of days I really moaned about using the Olympus to my wife, by the middle of the week I had mostly got used to using it again. It seems that I still have some affection for the E-30 and probably even more for the 5 mega-pixel E-1.

Once back in the Uk though I couldn’t wait to get the D800 out and take some pics.
No photos from Italy to show what a winning combination the E30 and Zuiko 14-54 were?

It’ll be a while before I get around to processing them I think. By then the holiday will be a distant hazy memory. The Nikon P300 performed well too.
