This flower was taken at Packwood House on an Olympus E-620. I really liked the way that the leaves curved around the stems of the flowers and the soft interplay of light and shadows on them and the juxtaposition in the remains of the flower that had bloomed and died and the healthy flower underneath.

MMX: Still Life
This was an entrant for one of our photographic club monthly assignments. It was also one of the first still lives that I attempted. I'm really quite pleased with the way it turned out.Taken with an Olympus E-620
MMX: Tension
The title of this image is a reference to its composition. The edges of the foremost arch on the left and right of the image seek to pull your eyes away from what is happening beyond. Yet the archways themselves draw you in and you are compelled to look at the people even though you … Continue reading MMX: Tension
MMX: From the Top
This is one of my favourite photographs from 2010. Taken from the top of the Roaches in the Peak District National Park it shows crepuscular light rays coming from the clouds. The photograph was taken with an Olympus E-30.
MMX: Rocks and Trees
This is another in a collection of images taken on the Roaches in The Peak District National Park. Taken from the pathway that climbs over the top of the rocks it is a view through some fallen trees to the Staffordshire countryside below. The wind tends to curl and buffet around the rocks here and … Continue reading MMX: Rocks and Trees
MMX: Cloud over Hen Cloud
Taken at The Roaches in Staffordshire, part of the Peak District National Park. This image is of Hen Cloud. There are two thoughts as to why it is called this. Some say the shape of the grit stone outcrop from a certain angle looks like a roosting hen, the other (and more likely) is that … Continue reading MMX: Cloud over Hen Cloud
MMX: Talking Up
Taken with an Olympus E-620 at Coughton Court in Warwickshire. The two little children were out walking with their grandfather, when they turned to each other and started to have an earnest conversation. It looked so good I had to take a picture. There was a little bit of post processing to do afterwards, as … Continue reading MMX: Talking Up
MMX: Double take
These oversized benches are at Coughton Court in Warwickshire. My daughter sat down on them and as I turned around to take her picture she took me at the same time with her EP-1. I like the spontaneity of the moment and the way the bench makes a nice backdrop. Taken with an Olympus E-620.
MMX: Urn
I really like these kind of still life photographs from other photographers, so whenever I can I try to shoot them. The urn stood in an alcove cut into a high hedge at Coughton Court, and it's weathered appearance due to a patina of age and dirt stood out against the dark of the hedge. … Continue reading MMX: Urn
MMX: Picnic
Taken at Kenilworth castle, this image tries to capture the British love of picnics. It's not something I've ever had a keen enthusiasm for, but this couple have waded through the long grass laden down with table, chairs and food to enjoy the June afternoon by the side of the stream. They were admired by … Continue reading MMX: Picnic
