I have now updated my portfolio with another two images which can be found in the ‘Recent Work‘ section on my website.

The first is called ‘Spirit of the Woods’ and I hope it’s clear why that title came to me and why I approached the image in the way that I did.
I saw this tree at the Batsford Arboretum in Gloucestershire and it struck me immediately that it looked like a giant spider or creature. It appeared to me as though it was coming through the trees underneath the canopy of branches.
I originally processed it with the trees in the background but the composition looked too busy, so I darkened the area behind the ‘creature’ and arrived at the impression that I wanted to give to the viewer.

The other photograph was taken at Bradgate Park in Leicestershire. The hill with a cenotaph placed on top is in the background and along the road, in the middle-distance, two people can be seen walking towards the hill. I wanted to get a sense of distance in the image but also include the two people in the narrative. The mound and the monument on its summit have an air of mystery and destination.
Gorgeous b&a tonality and composition!
