The three images this week comprise a close-up, architecture and a minimalist style landscape.
BLISTERED
Fujifilm X-E2, Fujinon XF18-55mm F/2.8-4
The close-up is a metal post supporting a gate. I really liked the blistered and crumbling patina on the metal. Looking at the out-of-focus background you might be forgiven for assuming that the aperture was wide open, such as f/2.8. In fact, the aperture was f/8.0 and by ensuring that I was close to the post and adjusting for maximum focus on the metal the background took care of itself.
QUIET SERVICE
Fujifilm X-E2, Fujinon XF18-55mm F/2.8-4
The second picture of the church is one that I have taken a few times, but have never really been happy with the results. This time the light on the field in front of and on the church itself was just about right. Taking the shot from amongst the trees meant that I could use the trunks and branches overhead as a frame. I think it makes a sad, thoughtful image.
COMPANIONS
Fujifilm X-E2, Fujinon XF18-135mm F3.5/5.6
The third image of the trees is part of an on-going project I have been doing for a couple of years. All of the images have trees of varying number and very little else. I like the minimal compositions that this can produce and monochrome suits the subject very well.
