My original thought was to photograph the Lion stamp on the egg and leave it at that, but I also wanted to divorce the stamp and ink from the shape of the egg to a certain extent and so shaded the outer edges. However the actual frame then became unbalanced with too much ‘dead’ area on the left and right, and so I took the perception of the egg even further away from its ovoid shape by cropping the photograph to a square. This I believe has isolated the Lion stamp and has made it the focus of the image and able to exist without the preconception that it is part of the egg.

This has worked well as I didn’t get the egg at all until that is I had made out the lion and bb date, free range. Great idea for stamp.
