Q: Why have you offset the biscuit in the square? I know my tendency would have been to have it bang central in a square crop. I know there will be a good aesthetic reason if you’ve done it so though I should ask and learn.

I did ponder a centre positioning, but I felt that the circle within the square would be very static and a very strong motif. I wanted the crack in the biscuit to retain some power within the composition and the centre positioning would not help this. The offsetting of the biscuit made it a focal point without becoming too static and the diagonal positioning of the crack would ensure that it would be noticed and attain a visual mass that enhanced its importance.
