A Bag to Suit

Not every trip out can be a rucksack-full-of-photographic-equipment expedition.

Sometimes you have to fit in with the family, and this will invariably mean paring down what equipment you take on a family holiday (if you value family dynamics).

Now, I have a very reasonable wife and daughter who are OK with me stopping to photograph things on our vacations, but I don’t push it. I don’t carry a rucksack on these trips; I make do with a shoulder bag, or I may use one of my sling bags, and I take at most a couple of cameras and usually no long lenses.

So, for our four-day mini-break in Yorkshire, I decided to take the ThinkTank Turnstyle 10 V2.0, my Fujifilm X-T5 with the XF16-50mm F/2.8-4.8 lens and the Fujifilm X100VI. I will obviously take batteries for both cameras and a Urth circular polarizer.

The Turnstyle bag is excellent. It wasn’t cheap, but it is very well made. It comes in three sizes: 5, 10 and 20.
It has a zip-fastening, configurable main area, another zip pocket to the front, and also one on the cushioned back, which obviously is very secure whilst you’re wearing it and a nice extra of a waterproof rain hood which can be pulled out to cover the bag.

The two cameras I am taking fit in the main section of the bag, with a little bit of room to spare and spare batteries, etc., will go in the front pocket.
